Blue Shield now offers an emergency alert monitoring system that provides access to help 24/7, at the push of a button. This benefit is available to eligible members enrolled in Plan F Extra at no additional cost.

Blue Shield now offers vision benefits provided by Medical Eye Services, Inc. (MESVision) including coverage for eye exams and either frames and lenses or contact lenses. These benefits offer a network of providers in retail optical centers. There is a limited network of MES participating providers outside of California. You can lower your costs by choosing network providers for covered services.

Physician consultation benefit

Blue Shield now offers physician consultation benefits available by phone or video via computer or mobile app. Get access to licensed physicians 24/7/365. Teladoc physicians can resolve many non-emergency medical issues, which can save you time from visiting the ER or local urgent care center. Teladoc physicians can even prescribe medications, if necessary.

Blue Shield now offers an over-the-counter (OTC) items benefit that provides a one-time use per quarter allowance for eligible OTC products such as cold and allergy medicines, first-aid supplies, pain relievers and more.

As a Blue Shield member, you are eligible for hearing aid services purchased from our contracted provider (EPIC Hearing Healthcare, and under the Amplify Plus program). This includes:

  • $0 charge for hearing aid evaluation
  • Discount on hearing aids, which come with warranties, batteries and service

 

ID theft protection and credit monitoring at no additional cost

Blue Shield of California has teamed up with Experian® to offer our eligible members identity protection services, including identity repair and credit monitoring, at no additional cost. Members will not be asked to pay or provide payment information for these services if they are eligible Blue Shield members. Members can renew coverage by going to experianidworks.com/blueshieldca and then entering their activation code that they received in their email. Members can also contact Experian’s customer care team at (866) 274-3891, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time. Reference engagement number DB14224 as proof of eligibility for the benefit services.

 

Alternative Care Discounts program

Relax and save 25% off on alternative care services from specialty health care providers participating with the ChooseHealthy® program. Simply show your Blue Shield member ID card at your appointment with a participating practitioner to get your discount on:
