Blue Shield has a new data sharing system. It provides members with the ability to store healthcare records from past insurers. This is called a payer-to-payer system. The payer-to-payer system standardizes data storage. When you leave an insurer (payer), you can request your records. They will then be available for the next insurance company.

This system requires your consent to share your records with other insurance companies. Once your insurance company has consent, they can share your health data.

Once Blue Shield has your consent, we will be able to retrieve and store your records. You can request your records from a past insurer now.
