The flu shot and you: Why, when, and where

Because of COVID-19, getting your flu shot this year is more important than ever.

Why: Some experts fear a potential “twindemic” from COVID-19 and seasonal flu. This means two epidemics happening at the same time. Getting the flu shot is an easy way to help protect your health and the health of your community.

When: It’s best to get the shot early in the season, such as in the fall, for maximum protection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But it’s never too late! You can still get your flu shot while the flu viruses are circulating later in the season.

Where: Blue Shield members can receive a flu shot at a variety of locations. These include doctors’ offices and retail pharmacies such as CVS Pharmacy®, Costco, Vons/Safeway, and more.
