Seth Glickman is senior vice president and chief health officer at Blue Shield of California, a nonprofit health plan with over $20 billion in annual revenue serving over 4 million members in the state's commercial, individual, and government markets. He leads strategy development, implementation, and operations for the healthcare services team, including clinical quality, pharmacy, lifestyle medicine, medical care solutions, and healthcare cost. Dr. Glickman is committed to improving health and affordability for all Californians and fostering a culture focused on results, thought partnership, continuous learning, and creating a great place to work.
His background as a physician has shaped a member-centric approach to transforming our healthcare system through value, quality, and innovation. Dr. Glickman has more than 20 years of clinical and executive experience, most recently as president of Intermountain Medical Group and chief medical officer for Intermountain's Community-Based Care, where he had oversight for all risk/value-based business and associated clinical and financial performance. He also led the development of impactful solutions to improve outcomes and keep costs more affordable, focusing on digital health, telehealth, and integrated care models.
Preceding his time with Intermountain, Dr. Glickman served as president and executive medical director for University of North Carolina Health Care, where he led the physician network, population health, and value-based care strategy. He also served as founder and chief medical ,officer for Bivarus, Inc., a patient-centered analytics start-up company), and as faculty member at the UNC School of Medicine. Parallel with his UNC faculty position, he was an Anniversary Fellow at the National Academy of Medicine, and Physician Faculty Scholar with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles on healthcare quality and policy, and his work has also featured in popular news media.
Dr. Glickman earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his medical residency in emergency medicine at the University of Chicago. He also earned a master's degree in health sector management from Duke University.
