Specialty pharmacies fill prescriptions for medications that usually require close monitoring and may require special handling, including refrigeration.
Offering convenience and support
You can have your specialty medications delivered to your door. Guidance on how to safely take your medication is included.
If you have injectable medication, necessary supplies are included at no extra charge (for example, needles, syringes, swabs, and disposable containers).
Retail pharmacy exceptions
Members enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan, Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, and some Commercial plans may have prior authorized, specialty medications filled at any in-network retail pharmacy. Check your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) or Certificate of Insurance (COI) for your specific benefit information or call Customer Service at the number on your BlueShield member ID card.
