Blue Shield of California provides a convenient way for members to get a personalized Annual Health Assessment (AHA) at no out-of-pocket cost. You can do this in the comfort of home with a provider coming to you or through a secure video call.

The AHA does not replace your current doctor appointments, checkups, or care.

Why get an AHA?

The AHA helps you stay on top of your health, and it can provide important information to your primary care physician (PCP) on potential care plan needs. The AHA may show that you could benefit from other care programs or resources available to you.

What happens during an AHA?

A licensed nurse practitioner from our contracted vendor will spend 30 to 60 minutes to evaluate your overall health.* The visit includes:

  • Tailored advice to improve your well-being and address any potential health concerns.
  • A review of your current medications.
  • Recommendations for screenings or tests you may need. Some screenings may be completed during the visit or set up for you for a future date.
  • A comprehensive summary that you can share with your PCP to supplement your current care plan.

How to schedule your AHA

If you received a mailer, email, or text message about the AHA, reach out to the website or phone number listed in the communication. Otherwise, you may receive a call to help you schedule your visit.*
