Effective January 1, 2014
Upon your upcoming renewal date, your Simply Shield medical plan(s) will be withdrawn from the market, and will not be available after that date. This is because 2014 marks an historic point in the health insurance market – the next phase of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will be implemented, requiring expanded levels of health coverage effective on January 2014. We’re excited about the new market, and are introducing new ACA-compliant plans that meet the standardized level of benefit requirements. Blue Shield intends to continue to make it easy for you to understand your coverage options.
Please use these handy fliers to review a side-by-side comparison of withdrawn Simply Shield medical plans with suggested plans from the new ACA-compliant Blue Shield portfolio, effective January 1, 2014. Employers will receive a copy of one of these fliers per plan in which they have enrollment included in their 2014 renewal period packets.
