Digital tools to help you manage your medication costs in 2026

At Blue Shield of California, your health is our top priority. That’s why we’ve developed pharmacy tools to help you navigate your prescription drug costs.

These digital tools can help you in the face of rising healthcare costs and national changes to 2026 Medicare Part D individual plans.

Price Check My Rx

With our Price Check My Rx tool, you can view current prescription drug prices, search for lower cost alternatives, and compare costs by pharmacy. Since some brand-name drugs will move from a copay (fixed amount) to coinsurance* (percentage of the pharmacy’s drug cost), some generic drugs might be a better option. Our tool can help you shop around for the best price.

Medicare programs for financial help

Whether you’re on a fixed income or just need help planning your monthly budget, the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread out your medication payments over the year.† The Extra Help program also helps qualifying members pay for Medicare Part D costs such as premiums, deductibles, and drug costs.

Pharmacy cost accumulator

Available via your online Blue Shield account, the pharmacy cost accumulator tracks your pharmacy deductible, which will apply to some 2026 Medicare Part D plans. Check your plan documents to confirm this applies to your plan. This tool can help you budget your medication costs, which will be more at the beginning of the year.

What’s a pharmacy deductible?

A pharmacy deductible is the amount you need to spend on prescription drugs before Blue Shield pays. Once the pharmacy deductible is met, you pay a copay and/or coinsurance (depending on the drug tier) until you’ve met your out-of-pocket maximum (OOP max), which Medicare has set as $2,100 for 2026. After that, your plan covers 100% of the costs for the rest of the year.

* Drug costs may fluctuate and vary depending on the pharmacy. The coinsurance amount you pay may be slightly different with each fill.

† Payment plans help manage monthly expenses, but do not save money or lower drug costs.
