Our pharmacy network

Pharmacy networks for commercial plans

Blue Shield of California commercial plans have two pharmacy network types: Rx Ultra and Rx Spectrum. Both networks provide you with access to retail chain, independent pharmacies , plus grocery, and drug store locations nationwide. You’ll be responsible for the copay or coinsurance listed in your benefits. If your plan has a deductible, that could also impact how much you pay. For Small Business and most Large Group plans, you can get an extended supply of maintenance medications from any participating network pharmacy.

 Rx Ultra Network

The Rx Ultra network supports Individual and Family Plans, Covered California plans, select Small Business plans, and most Large Group plans. This network allows you to visit any participating network pharmacy.

Rx Spectrum Network

Rx Spectrum is the retail pharmacy network for most Small Business and select Large Group plans. This network offers cost savings when you fill a prescription at one of these preferred (Level A) pharmacies:

• CVS
• Costco
• Albertsons (including Safeway, Vons, Sav-On, Pavilions)

You can still use non-preferred (Level B) network pharmacies, but you could pay a higher cost share for your prescription drugs.
