Drug pricing through Caremark

When you enroll in a Blue Shield plan that offers pharmacy benefits, it's easy to find pricing information.

Coverage through an employer or group plan

The Caremark tool helps you calculate an estimated drug price and locate a pharmacy near you. It also shows you how much you could save if your employer group chooses the Rx Spectrum pharmacy network.

Rx Spectrum pharmacy network

This network offers preferred member cost sharing at select participating retail pharmacies. Retail pharmacies with preferred cost sharing will be noted as “preferred” in the drug pricing tool. These pharmacies include:

  • CVS
  • CVS Pharmacy at Target
  • Costco
  • Safeway
  • Vons

This price estimate is based on a common plan design using the Blue Shield Plus Drug Formulary and the Rx Spectrum pharmacy network, which is available for Large Group and select Small Business employers.

Personal or small business coverage

If you have coverage on your own (through an Individual & Family Plan, including Covered California) or coverage through the small business you work for, you can get estimated drug pricing information and locate an in-network pharmacy.

Rx Ultra network

This estimate is based on a common plan design using the Blue Shield Standard Drug Formulary, and the Rx Ultra pharmacy network, which is available for Individual and Family Plans (including Covered California), and Small Business employers.

Refer to your Summary of Benefits

Caremark estimates drug costs based on Blue Shield’s most popular plans. Your actual costs may differ depending on your plan and drug tier. Refer to your Summary of Benefits for co-pays and more. It's located under the “My plan” tab on your dashboard at the bottom of the page.
