    How can I tell if I am serving a Blue Plan member?

    Just ask for their Blue Plan member ID card and verify that it has the following elements:

    - One or both of the Blue Plan logos

    - The three-character prefix that begins the subscriber ID

    - The suitcase symbol

    Why is the three-character prefix on the ID card important?

    The three character prefix identifies the member's Blue Plan, and helps you verify their eligibility, benefits and cost-sharing information. Without the correct prefix, claims cannot be processed or paid.

    What should I do if I am unable to use the online tool to request an authorization?

    You can also obtain authorizations by contacting the member's Blue Plan using the toll-free number on the back of the member's ID card.
