Individual and Family Plans: Renewal Center

Learn how turning 65, having a newborn, or other changes in your life affect your coverage and what steps to take.

Turning 65? Stay with Blue Shield for Medicare coverage

Blue Shield offers Medicare plans for people 65 or older or who meet certain eligibility requirements. These include plans that combine medical and prescription drug coverage or plans that let you choose any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.

Having or had a baby recently? Enroll your newborn

To ensure there is no gap in coverage, contact us as soon as possible within 60 days post-delivery. Enroll your child in your current plan or a new plan by calling (888) 256-3650 (TTY: 711)

When your children get older

Is your child turning 19? Time for an individual dental and vision plan

Pediatric dental and vision benefits included in medical plans are available only to members up to age 19.

Is your child turning 26? Time to enroll them in their own medical coverage.

When your child turns 26, they will no longer be eligible for coverage on your medical plan.* They need to get their own plan. Explore medical plans that will keep them covered.

*Unless the dependent qualifies for an extension of coverage past age 26 due to disability
