Welcome to your Blue Shield vision plan†

Here are steps you can take to make the most of your vision plan:

1. Register for online accounts

If you have a medical or dental plan in addition to vision coverage

First register at blueshieldca.com. To register, use the member ID from your medical plan ID card.

With a Blue Shield member account, you can:

• Find providers that participate in your plan’s network
• Review your plan documents, such as your plan policy
• Access wellness discount programs, which include discounts on contact lenses and sunglasses.

If you only have a vision plan with Blue Shield

Or need to access your vision account, register with the vision plan administrator at blueshieldcavision.com.

With this account, you can:

• View a summary of your vision plan benefits
• Check eligibility
• Download claim forms
• Track your claims

2. Select a network vision care provider

Our vision network is one of the largest vision care networks1 in the state with more than 3,500 providers. Our network includes private-practice optometrists and ophthalmologists across California, and popular retail locations such as America’s Best, LensCrafters, Target, wholesale
locations2 such as Walmart Vision Centers.

For a simpler search, log in at blueshieldca.com and select Vision care. Otherwise, follow these steps to find vision providers in your plan’s network*:

1. Go to our Find a Doctor tool.
2. Click Vision Care under “What are you looking for?”
3. Enter your zip code and click Continue.
4. Under “Do you already have a plan in mind?”, click yes.
5. In the Find your plan window, click on the drop-down arrow to choose your plan type.  
6. From the drop-down "Choose Plan Type," choose Vision Plans (Individual and Family or All others), then click Continue with this plan.
7. Selecting your vision care plan is required in order to find a network provider. The selected vision network plan will display under “Search Vision Care,” and you can begin your search. You can search by specialty. You can also filter your results.

*The search results will list providers that are participating in the plan you selected. We make every effort to ensure that our list of providers is current and accurate. However, because providers leave networks from time to time, these lists are subject to change, and you are encouraged to check with the provider before using their services.

3. Visit your vision care provider

Once you have selected a vision care provider, call the provider's office to make an appointment. Tell your provider that you have Blue Shield† vision care through EyeMed, and the vision provider will verify your coverage.

Any claims incurred prior to 1/1/2024 will be supported by
MESVision through 12/31/2024.
