Our HMO dental plans cover a range of dental services including exams, X-rays, fillings, crowns, and root canals. Most plans also cover orthodontia and dental implants. There are no deductibles and no annual benefit maximums, which helps you stay covered if major dental treatment is needed.
Our Dental Standard HMO and Dental HMO plans can only be purchased direct from Blue Shield, while our Blue Shield Family Dental HMO plan can only be purchased from Covered California.
This plan provides affordable dental coverage with fixed copays and no waiting periods. It’s designed for members who value cost certainty.
This plan covers most of the same services as the Dental HMO plan (except implants), but you’ll typically pay a little more out of pocket for that care in exchange for a lower monthly premium.
The Blue Shield Family Dental HMO plan is our lowest-cost dental plan. It offers fixed copays for services and includes coverage for pediatric dental implants and orthodontia.

You choose a primary dentist from our Dental HMO network to coordinate your dental care. You can always change your dentist if needed, up to once per year.
