January 2012 Update
We're excited to offer you a new way to grow and retain your book of business. Simply Shield – our redesigned small group portfolio – offers your clients a simple approach to healthcare coverage.

To make way for our new Simply Shield portfolio, we are streamlining our plan offerings by withdrawing many of our plans from the previous portfolio. To learn more about renewals and withdrawals, your clients' next steps, and how you can assist them, please visit our Renewal and Withdrawal Center.

Please note: If your client currently offers one of Blue Shield's plan packages – PlanSelectSM, Suite Deal, or Dual Choice – they may have some plans without enrollees, and those plans may no longer be available at their next renewal. Only those medical plans included in the new Simply Shield portfolio will be available for enrollment at their next renewal date.

PlanSelect
PlanSelectSM is one of the most flexible and affordable programs available for businesses with two to 50 eligible employees. It's an easy way to offer your clients quality healthcare coverage. Employers can simply choose any combination of two to 351 different health plan choices, providing the diverse coverage needed to make sure there is something for everyone.
We've made enrolling in PlanSelect for small-group employers as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Pick any number of plans from:
  • Eight Access+ HMO® plans OR eight Local Access+ HMO plans1 
  • Fifteen PPO plans
  • Nine HSA-compatible, high-deductible health plans2
  • Two Active Choice® plans3 
  • Onee POS plan
2.  Select a monthly employee contribution option, a minimum of:
  • $100 per enrolled employee, OR
  • 50% of total employee rates
 3. Begin offering your clients access to quality health coverage today!

Access Baja HMO® plans can be offered alongside those chosen through PlanSelect, but they do not count toward PlanSelect requirements.

1.  Access Baja® HMO plans are not offered through PlanSelect. If you are an employer located in certain California counties whose eligible employees live or work in the Local Access+ HMO service area, you have the option of choosing any of the Local Access+ HMO plans or any of the Access+ HMO plans, but not both. One HMO plan option must be selected; both options are not available to combine. The Local Access+ HMO plans have the same benefits as our Access+ HMO plans. The service area for Local Access+ HMO plans is described in the Benefit Summary Guide (A16609).
2. Although most consumers who enroll in an HSA-compatible high-deductible health plan (HDHP) are eligible to open an HSA, members should consult with a financial adviser to determine if an HSA/HDHP is a good financial fit for them. Blue Shield does not offer tax advice or HSAs. HSAs are offered through financial institutions. For more information about HSAs, eligibility and the law's current provisions, consumers should ask their financial or tax adviser. HSA plan features may vary by institution and may be subject to change by those institutions.
