New features available in the Small Group Online Renewal tool
  • Starting with December 2015 renewing small business groups, you can add or change Life Insurance plans for groups with 2 to 9 eligible employees. Please contact your Account Manager to add or update Life Insurance plans for groups with 10+ employees or to add Graded or Multiples of Salary Life Insurance coverage.
  • Starting with November 2015 renewing small business groups, you can add or change stand-alone dental and vision plans.

Exceptions for using our online tools

Exceptions to using our Small Group Online Renewal tool

Applicable forms must be submitted via fax or email for the following group renewal changes:
  • Change or update group information (group contact, group name address, telephone, etc.)
  • Add a second waiting period based on employee class
  • Employer contribution changes
  • Add or remove part-time employee coverage
  • Change domestic partner coverage (Narrow/Broad)
  • Add or change life insurance plans for groups with 10+ employees or to add Graded or Multiples of Salary Life Insurance coverage
Cal-COBRA members are not reflected on the roster in Online Renewal – any group coverage changes that impact Cal-COBRA members must be submitted via the applicable form.

Brokers can update plan selections during open enrollment/renewal period in the Online Renewals tool until the last day of their renewal month. After that, plan changes due to an incorrect plan selection are considered a corrective change that must be submitted via paper and subject to approval.
Exceptions to using Employer Connection Plus (EC+)

Please contact Producer Services or your account manager for the following member level changes:
  • Corrective processing for members enrolled in an incorrect plan. Note: Plan changes due to a Qualifying Life Event can be submitted in EC+
  • Changes for members with future effective dates – eligible changes must be submitted after the effective date
Brokers and Employers can use EC+ throughout the year to submit employee additions, terminations, qualifying life events and update personal information in EC+ (e.g. date of hire, birth date, SSN, address, name, etc.)
