New for 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026

You will have a new Medicare Part D plan with Blue Shield of California - the Blue Shield of California Medicare Rx Plan (PDP). This plan is a Group Medicare Prescription Drug (GPDP) plan and will replace your current prescription drug retiree plan.

Amazon Pharmacy Home Delivery

If you are currently utilizing home delivery, you will need to update your Rx ID number, BIN and PCN in Amazon’s Pharmacy Portal. If you have not received your new Blue Shield member ID Card by January 1st, please call customer service.

Coverage Exception Process

To request an exception for coverage, fill out the form here, or you can call customer service, and a representative can assist you with the submission.

If you receive a letter about a disruption, you can begin the exception process once you receive your new Blue Shield member ID card. Or you can call customer service for assistance with the form submission.

New ID card
You will receive a new Blue Shield ID card to be used whenever you get Part D prescription drugs at network pharmacies.
Transition Supply Support
During your first 90 days of enrollment, you’ll receive a 30-day supply of any non-formulary medication while you work with your doctor to find a covered alternative or request an exception.
Out-of-Pocket Protection
You’ll pay standard copays until your total out-of-pocket costs for Part D drugs reach $2,100. After that, the plan covers your Part D medications at no cost.

Blue Shield of California is a PDP plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Blue Shield of California depends on contract renewal.

Amazon Pharmacy is independent of Blue Shield of California and is contracted by Blue Shield to provide home delivery of prescription medications to Blue Shield members. Members are responsible for their share of cost, as stated in their benefit plan details. Information about specific prescription drug benefits and drug benefit exclusions can be found in the member's plan documents. Members may call the Customer Service number on their Blue Shield member ID card if they have questions about their Blue Shield prescription drug coverage.
