Beginning January 1, 2027

GLP-1 Prescriptions

In 2027, GLP-1 drugs are excluded (not covered) under your Medicare Part D plan. Some drugs are not covered by Medicare due to their type or intended use. For details, see Chapter 5, Section 7 "Types of drugs we don't cover" in your Evidence of Coverage.

We understand that these medications can play an important role in your health and well-being. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program to expand access to GLP-1 medications when used for weight loss/management only. Please contact your healthcare provider to discuss if you are eligible for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program or call 1-800-MEDICARE for more information.

Please note: The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program works outside of your regular Medicare Part D drug coverage and is not part of your Blue Shield of California coverage.

Call the Car

In 2027, arrangements for transportation services inside or outside of California are handled by Call the Car. Transportation services (non-Medicare covered) obtained from any provider other than Call the Car is not covered.
