As you may have heard, Local Access+ HMO is now available in all or a portion of 18 counties,1 covering more clients throughout the state.

We're expanding fully into these counties January 1, 2013:

  • Marin

  • Sonoma

  • Stanislaus

We're also extending existing coverage in these counties by adding more zip codes:

  • Riverside

  • Los Angeles

Employers and their enrolled employees must live or work in the Local Access+ HMO service area.1

1 Employees and all enrolled dependents must live or work in the Local Access+ HMO "service area," which includes designated counties: portions of Contra Costa, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, San Mateo, Sacramento, Kern, and Ventura counties, as well as in all of Marin, Orange, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Sonoma, Stanislaus and Yolo counties. 2 The medical group or IPA must be an Access+ provider for members to use this benefit. Medical groups and IPAs that participate in the Access+ Specialist program are designated with an A+ in our online and printed directories and on Blue Shield member ID cards.

3 Access Baja® plans are not offered through SimpleSelect. If you are an employer located in certain California counties whose eligible employees live or work in the Local Access+ HMO service area, you have the option of choosing the Local Access+ HMO plans or the Access+ HMO plans, but not both. One HMO plan option must be selected; both options are not available to combine. The Local Access+ HMO plans have the same benefits as our Access+ HMO plans.

If you are an employer located in certain California counties whose eligible employees live or work in the Local Access+ HMO service area, you have the option of choosing any of the Access+ HMO or Local Access+ HMO plans, but not both. The Local Access+ HMO plans have the same benefits as our Access+ HMO plans.
