Alan Fohrer retired in 2010 as Southern California Edison’s (SCE) chairman and CEO, a position that was the culmination of a 37-year career with SCE. Prior to becoming CEO in 2002, Fohrer held numerous other senior leadership positions such as executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer. While at SCE, he restored the company’s financial health through successful regulatory strategies, and restructured several international projects, enhancing the value of these assets in subsequent years. Fohrer’s wide range of expertise covers regulatory and legislative proceedings as well as corporate governance, management and finance.
Throughout the past decade, Fohrer has applied his expertise to a variety of institutions, serving on boards of directors of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, the California Chamber of Commerce, Osmose Utility Services, Inc. and the publicly-held Duratek, Inc. He is also a member of the Viterbi School of Engineering Board of Councilors for the University of Southern California and vice chair of the California Science Centre Foundation. Other directorships include: PNM Resources; Synagro, Inc.; MWH Global, Inc.; and TransAlta Corporation.
Fohrer earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Southern California and received an M.B.A. from California State University Los Angeles.
